Do you feel like your home needs a change? Or have you just bought a new property and need to start thinking about window treatment options? If so, the JT Interiors team are here to help. We have a dedicated team who can offer honest, knowledgeable advise. But firstly, here are a few tips to get you started…

Choosing the right window dressings can always be a tricky task as you want to make the right decision. Window treatments are a long lasting investment, and will last for many years to come which is why making the right choice, is an important one!
Curtains are a perfect way to add softness, and tranquility to your living space. They are both practical and decorative and can completely transform a room. Choose a fabric that you can live with and that you can incorporate with your style of cushions/accessories and furniture. When opting for made to measure curtains the choice of heading can be a little daunting. Wave heading is a more contemporary look. It has a slightly smaller and straighter stack back to other heading options, which creates a neat and continuous ‘wave’ effect with the fabric.

For a more classical look you can either opt for pencil pleat or pinch pleat. Pencil pleat is the most common choice of heading. Folds of fabric are gathered close together, creating an effect of a line of pencils – from the heading to the floor the fabric falls neatly and effortlessly. You would possibly opt for pencil pleat in a more traditional, older property to suit the character of the space. For a slightly more uniformed look you can go for pinch pleat. The pleats can either be single, double or triple depending on the fullness you would like. They are fixed pleats, and make any room look like an elegant one!
Roman blinds are becoming more and more popular. Unlike curtains, roman blinds are tucked away when pulled up and don’t take up a mass amount of room. They can either be fitted inside or outside a window recess. When made up, the fabric neatly folds effortlessly which creates a clean, and crisp look. Roman blinds are perfect for a bedroom window with a radiator underneath, as when it is pulled down you don’t need to cover up the radiator. Stripes and leading edges add to the impact of a roman blind and look stunning at any window!

Is your property over looked? If so, then wood slat blinds or sheer roller blinds are a brilliant alternative! Not only do they let light in which is important for any interior space but they also create a sense of privacy in your home. Wood slat blinds are incredibly durable and are very low maintenance. They are simple, and create a sense of class and clean lines. They come in many different wood options, and can come with decorative tapes if preferred! Kitchens and bathrooms are the most common place to install them but they can also work throughout a complete house in living rooms, and bedrooms too! Sheer roller blinds are usually fitted inside the recess and are very neat, there are many fabric choices available too. The fabric is laminated so it looks effortless when pulled down. The advantage is the privacy aspect, you can see outside without anyone easily seeing in!
