Working from Home

Whether you are working from home or just need a space to enjoy reading, writing or crafting – a home office should be functional and inspiring at the same time! Here are a few ways to brighten up your space to keep your motivation and creativity flowing.

When picking furniture for your home office whether you’ve got an entire room or just a tiny corner ensure that you are picking the right items for your space that are practical and actually comfortable to work on. Limited on space? Why not use a small desk ladder, perfect to perch and do some work but also not too bulky and invasive on space. Don’t’ be afraid to use furniture for other than it’s intended purpose, you could also use a dining table and a dining room credenza for storage or a dressing table in a bedroom, just be careful not to make it too cosy that all you want to do is nap!

Quite often home offices are kept hidden as they become cluttered, forgotten spaces. Organisation is key, it can be unmotivating working in a messy cluttered space – free up drawer and floorspace by putting up cabinets, shelving and notice boards to fully utilise your vertical space to help organise supplies that might otherwise end up shoved in a drawer.

Add some low maintenance plants and greenery to brighten up the space, greenery is known to make us feel happier, calmer and more productive, they are also good for cleaning the air. If you’re not one for looking after plants then you could also opt for a faux option.

Make sure there is ample natural light in your space. Sunlight helps improve your mood and focus by boosting the serotonin levels in your body. Natural light can also makes a space feel bigger.
