So, where did green come from?Green is not a primary colour, but is created by mixing yellow and blue. Green has been used since Egyptian times, using pigments derived from natural earth and malachite. In 1775, a Swedish Chemist Carl Wilhelm Scheele introduced the colour to the art world by creating the hue that was named Scheele’s Green which soon took over the Victorian Age being used for wallpapers and clothing, unfortunately this dye was highly toxic as it was made from malachite and is believed to have caused many deaths, luckily green dyes today are no longer toxic!!
