What was the inspiration for the colour palette?

The brief was to use some strong colours for accent tones alongside some warm autumnal colours.  I took the inspiration from the catwalk – Chocolate and Blue are featuring strongly and I really love the combination.  Nothing says Autumn more than a wonderful blue sky and the earthy tones of the trees changing colour.

How do you introduce strong tones without making rooms feel dark?

Keep them to the accents and pieces you can swap out.  I did select a navy sofa – but that is a classic tone and can be teamed with lots of colours in the future.  Cushions, vases and artwork are all great ways to go bold if you aren’t feeling brave or wanting to make a foray into stronger colours
