This was a period home, which is unusual for a show home.  How did that influence your design approach?

Designing showhouses on period homes requires a thorough site inspection in addition to the proposed plans, as construction changes are frequent and need to be addressed. For example, non-standard window shapes, changes to the room layout due to building restrictions, room heights, etc.

Taking care and respecting period buildings is of great importance to preserve our architectural legacy. However, the refurbished homes need to respond to modern living, and in many cases, creative solutions are required to provide the new owners with a cohesive living space.

The selection of furniture and furnishings also needs to work harmoniously with the character of the building while offering a modern feel.

Does styling for the retirement market influence your design choices?

Of course it does! Considering the lifestyles of the prospective buyers is a must. Our design work is dedicated to the likes and needs of our clients. Every selection we make responds to this, and we always include new and fresh ideas to offer inspiration and include the latest trends.

Retirement is an exciting time to enjoy friends, hobbies, and new opportunities. A welcoming and stimulating design complements the feeling of renewal, comfort and belonging.
