We were commissioned to help re-design a tranquil senior common room in a breath taking setting. The clients brief was to bring the outside in, creating a soft and timeless scheme. The striking panelling and understated fireplace needed to be considered throughout the design process.
” Thanks for work you have put in — it’s looking great, everyone is really pleased with the results “

We started by looking at the floorplan and decided on where to place the existing pieces of furniture to make use of the space. There were many elegant pieces of furniture and we wanted to give them a new lease of life. The fireplace wasn’t being made into a feature so we situated two of the sofas in front of the fireplace to create a formal seating arrangement with a footstool in between – which also created a more relaxed, social space.
The large windows helped balance the beautiful dark panelling in the room. It was important to use fabrics that lifted the space, and didn’t make it feel darker. The client wanted to bring the outside in, to make the room feel brighter, and more in touch with the surroundings. We selected a botanical printed fabric for the window treatments which had an interesting and exquisite look. The blue and green tones complemented the panelling and balanced the room perfectly. The velvet fabrics on the sofas added richness, luxury and softened the room too.
